Puppy Potty Schedule Maker
Updated October 31, 2026
Enter your puppy's age and your day, and this tool builds a printable potty-break schedule. It uses a commonly cited rule of thumb: many puppies can hold it for roughly one hour per month of age, up to about 8 hours for adult dogs. Every puppy is different, so treat it as a starting point and adjust to your dog.
Tips for sticking to the schedule
- Use the same spot and a cue word each time.
- Praise or reward within a few seconds of success.
- Clean accidents with an enzyme cleaner so the smell doesn't draw your puppy back.
- Ask your vet if your puppy seems to need to go far more often than this; it can be a sign of a health issue.
